A Walk of Hope and Remembrance as Beyond Zero Stands With Cancer Survivors

NAIROBI 23rd October, 2026: The Beyond Zero Initiative today joined partners, cancer survivors, caregivers, dignitaries and members of the public at the KENCOGlobal Relay For Life Kenya 2026 at the Ulinzi Sports Complex, in a powerful show of solidarity in the fight against cancer.

Held during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the event brought together people united by a common purpose: to celebrate cancer survivorship, remember loved ones lost to the disease and take action against cancer through increased awareness, prevention and early detection.

Beyond Zero’s participation is in line with its commitment to strengthening cancer awareness, prevention and early detection, while supporting efforts that bring health information and services closer to communities.

Held under the theme of celebrating survivorship, remembering loved ones and taking action against cancer, the event placed the experiences of cancer survivors and their families at the heart of the day’s activities.

The programme was marked by cancer survivor testimonies, official flag-off of the Relay Walk, also dubbed the Survivors’ Walk and lots of family fun and entertainment activities. Survivors, caregivers, dignitaries and other participants joined the walk in a powerful demonstration of solidarity with people affected by cancer.

The 24hr event features a continuous relay alongside health screening, exhibitions, health education and information booths, providing participants with opportunities to access vital health information and learn more about cancer prevention and early detection.

For Beyond Zero, initiatives such as the Relay For Life provide an important platform for turning awareness into action. Encouraging timely screening, strengthening health education and promoting access to appropriate care remain critical in addressing the burden of cancer.

The gathering at Ulinzi Sports Complex in Lang’ata, Nairobi County was therefore more than a relay. It was a moment to honour those whose lives have been lost to cancer, celebrate those who have overcome it and stand with those still on the journey.

Every survivor represents a story of courage and resilience, while every life lost is a reminder of the urgency to do more. Through collective action, awareness and early intervention, communities can continue to strengthen the fight against cancer.
