Beyond Zero Commended for Championing Quality Medical Services for Women and Children

NAIROBI, 25th April 2018 -The First Lady Margaret Kenyatta’s has been commended for her work in advocating for quality healthcare for the Kenyan population, especially women and children. In talks held with outgoing Chinese Ambassador to Kenya Liu Xianfa, the First Lady’s work with Beyond Zero was highly commended.

“I was really touched by your spirit of care for the less fortunate. Looking back, I have witnessed so many achievements through your support,” said Ambassador Xianfa.

Ambassador Xianfa, who was accompanied by his wife Li Ping, expressed his gratitude to the First Lady for her support during his tour of duty in Kenya.

On her part, the First Lady thanked the Ambassador saying she looked forward to continued partnership with the Chinese embassy.

The Embassy has been a strong supporter of the ‘Beyond Zero’ campaign. It has funded the purchase of mobile clinics and medical equipment for four years since the inception of the First Lady’s initiative.

During the launch of the second strategic plan for the ‘Beyond Zero’ initiative, the Chinese embassy donated specialised medical equipment worth Sh15 million.

The equipment, which included infusion pumps and microinjection pumps, will be installed in six health facilities in Nairobi and Tana River counties.
