Beyond Zero recognised as East Africa’s Superbrand in CSR

Beyond Zero initiative recognized amongst East Africa’s 53 top Superbrands

Nairobi , 4th November , 2016 (PSCU) First Lady Margaret Kenyatta Friday evening received a prestigious Award recognizing Beyond Zero initiative amongst East Africa’s top Superbrands.

The revolutionary Beyond Zero drive was recognized as the strongest brand under a special category of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) where the campaign was celebrated as the initiative of the year.

It was celebrated amongst the region’s top brands during the 4th edition of the Superbrands ( East Africa) Tribute Awards ceremony held at Villa Rosa Kempinski Hotel, Nairobi where 52 other heavyweight brands from the region also received their awards.

The First Lady, who is the patron of the Beyond Zero campaign received the special award in appreciation of the initiative’s tremendous work in improving maternal and child healthcare in Kenya.

Beyond Zero campaign is a platform designed to provide high level leadership in reducing maternal, child and new born deaths and ending new HIV infections using the mobile clinic as the baseline instrument of engagement

Beyond Zero is premised on the principle of catalyzing actions at the grassroots and accessing the hard to reach populations with vital health services and medical care while complementing existing health infrastructure.

It complements ongoing interventions at both National and County levels including the provision of free maternity services to ensure that no mothers or children die at childbirth.

Through the Beyond Zero initiative, the First Lady has steadfastly campaigned for accelerated policy on matters of maternal and child health and personally ran grueling marathons locally and abroad to mobilize resources to purchase mobile clinics which she has delivered to all the 47 counties.

Before the First Lady received the Beyond Zero award, the initiative’s mode of health delivery services, its relevance, impact and challenges of accessing the hard to reach citizens were all amplified through a video clip whose strong messages left the audience appreciating the critical role of the campaign.

The audience included Chief Executive Officers of the region’s top Superbrands and business people from other heavyweight firms.

The second phase of the Beyond Zero dream is where the First Lady plans to mobilize more resources and support towards the construction of a modern state of the art 150-bed capacity specialized national referral hospital for women and children at an estimated cost of Sh 2.2 billion.
